THE LAST ADVENTURE OF LIFE

We all have things we'd rather not talk about or focus on in life and death is probably high on that list for most of us.  Our long-time member Rev. Maria Hoaglund has spent many years supporting people through "The Last Adventure of Life."  Maria was born in Tokyo, Japan and attended Japanese schools.  After high school, she moved to the United States for college.  She graduated from Yale College and later received her Masters of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary.  She worked in the ministry for many years and later, in 1995, she began working as a bereavement coordinator for a hospice program in the Puget Sound area of Washington.

What's fascinating to me is that Maria has integrated her bicultural experiences and skills into her spiritual and bereavement work.  I very much enjoyed her books, The Last Adventure of Life and The Most Important Day of Your Life.  In fact, I've sold her books at some of our live events.  When we get stuck in life, we tend to want to DO something.  Maria's books contain many, and I really do mean many, tangible tips for bringing more comfort and peace to the dying and also to caregivers and people in grief.

About Kimberly Saavedra

Kimberly Saavedra is the Owner and Director of The Kamlak Center, a publishing company and teaching center that focuses on survival of consciousness, transformation of grief, and deeper orders of reality. She was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor of arts in Philosophy in 1997.

In pursuit of her degree, she encountered Dr. Betty J. Kovacs whose work and passion struck a deep chord. That "meeting" inspired Kimberly to create The Kamlak Center in 2002 as a platform to share the vision, research and personal experiences of Dr. Kovacs with a wider audience. Dr. Kovacs received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine in Comparative Literature and Theory of Symbolic/Mythic Language. Dr. Kovacs is the author of The Miracle of Death. The most gratifying aspect of Kimberly's work through The Kamlak Center is hearing from people who share their life stories.

Kimberly enjoys yoga, hiking, walking in the Southern California sunshine and spending time with her friends and family, including two very young grandchildren, Andre and Camila. In 2013 Kimberly was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is open to the life lessons and beautiful connections that her healing journey inspires.

Amazing Experience Sharing My Energy Work - with a "Family" of Women from Texas this Past Week

I just had a most gratifying day this Thursday, offering my energy work/play to four lovely women who have known each other for years and were visiting Sedona - from Texas and Georgia! It all started because the daughter of one of the four women began planning their trip to Sedona. She was interested in receiving some energy work, and had heard of "Running the Bars." She was intrigued enough that she contacted me asking me if she might be able to have her bars run.
This young adventuresome woman ended up planning for herself, her mother, and her three other "aunties" to each have a session with me - at the lovely home they were renting south of the Village, in the Wild Horse Mesa area. The only unfortunate thing was that Shannon's mother-in-law died unexpectedly on the day after Shannon and her people arrived in Sedona. So... I was not able to meet Shannon or have a session and Run the Bars for her, either. Too bad! (However, I was able to refer her to my "other" work at www.changewithcourage.com!)
The women had picked the Master Bedroom in the home to do the sessions in. When I first got to the house where the group was staying, I took the time to explain how the session would work - to share the Heart Wall Healing, Running the Bars, and Matrix Energetics work (play!) - with everyone present. Then, they decided what order they would go in; and we began. Each one had some specific issues - including grief, forgiveness, physical healing, burn-out - that they were desiring to work on, and we took the time to focus a bit and speak about their intentions for the sessions before beginning each one. I also always begin with a prayer and some Soul Singing before the session. I also got out the Shambala healing Metatron Mat and a couple of Vajras that I purchased when I first arrived in Sedona that I use on the end of the bed while conducting a session. I also let each woman know re the essential oils - they can choose one or two that they like, and I connected the oils they desired on a plate connected through a wire to the Metatron Mat so they could have an "energized" oil to take home with them.
Each one seemed to deeply appreciate our individual sessions together and were willing to write a short piece re their experience for me yesterday. (We even had a synchronistic "reunion" at the Son Silver West shop earlier in the day!) I share these below:
After my first session with Maria, I definitely felt a "shift" in energy for much improvement. I highly recommend energy work with Maria and will definitely see her again upon my return to Sedona. She was a great addition to our "girl's week" in Sedona.                                                                                                                                        -- Susan F., from Georgia
While visiting in Sedona recently I had an energy session with Dancing Heart and she is a beautifully gifted healer. Having some experience with the healing arts, I can honestly say that Maria is an exceptional healer and she blessed me immensely through her love and respect for life and health - and her knowledge and intuition.                -- Donna Sue S., from Dallas
What a treasure to meet Maria. To have the opportunity to grow and release with a spirit as Beautiful as Maria is a true Blessing. As we go on this earth these days it is so important to Release what no longer serves us and see to the higher Being. Maria has a true talent to help you get to that place. Thank you.            -- Gene
My name is Lindi, and I had an amazing Blessing. Not knowing maria or what she and I could work with to help my pain and sadness, she knew all my heartfelt needs. With love and kindness, we worked to release and move forward. I am happy, feel light and cannot wait for tomorrow with new hope! This lady really helped me. So very Thankful.     -- Lindi Johnson
Thank You, you amazing (horse) women, originally from Texas! I feel so blessed to have met you, helped you Transform while in Sedona, and to feel your kindness and gratitude, too. May we meet again soon! And I pray that God's deep blessings will support and uphold especially Shannon and husband and their family at this time! And as for this experience in my life, How does it get any better than this?!? What else is possible??

I was speaking with my friend Jane Li the other day, telling her about a special time I'd had with some Japanese spiritual seekers here in Sedona. One of the women had had an interesting experience on Valentines Day morning up on Airport Mesa, watching the Sun Rise. While she was sitting up on that beautiful vortex, she heard a voice from inside her - something she's not prone to do - say: "Love the people of the world!" She was moved and surprised by this message, she said, being a kind of artist in Japan, but someone with no notoriety. And she was even sharing that she didn't consider herself a very spiritual person - self-centered, not so much people-centered.

I was deeply moved by this woman's message, and obviously she was moved, too... and pondering it! As I was sharing the simple but profound nature of the message - to Love Everyone in the World - for our times, my friend Jane Li Fox, owner of Alchemy Options thought of a piece that's in one of her books called Feng Shui for Horses. They are the words from her horse Prince that he shares from the other side, and I want to share them with you here:

We did not come here to be ridden; that is a privilege we afford you. We did not come here to be corralled, whipped, broken, starved or tortured. We did not come here to carry man in wars, where we were left for dead along with our riders. We did not come here to be showpieces of man's egos and then tossed aside like an old pair of shoes when we could no longer perform.
We have watched for many centuries as all of these roles have been played out on the stage you call life. And we hold no grudges. We have no judgments. We have been willing time after time to be a sacrifice of humankind. We are treasure houses of wisdom, of wealth, of courage, of unconditional love, of passion, of endurance, of unending loyalty.
We have waited for you to awaken. We have waited for you to notice. We have waited for you to trust. We have waited for you to listen, and the awakening has begun. As you awaken to who you are, you are awakening to who we are. It cannot be otherwise. We have always known, just as you have always known.
This is why we came; this is our mission. We came to help you remember what you have always known, but had forgotten..."

Powerful words of wisdom from a powerful, wise horse of the animal kingdom! May we continue our awakening process with Joy, Grace, and Ease so that all of us - both human, animal, and all living, sentient beings, can live in more Grace, Peace, and Joy, Very SOON!
